From ancient to modern times, the concept of Light has been embedded in cultures and religions, and used by artists to express the human and the divine. Every day experience shows us the duality of light: life and warmth – or fires and explosions. And without light – sleep, dreams, or death.
In the paintings and photographs on display here, members of the Kitchener Waterloo Society of Artists have applied their minds, hearts and artistic talents to interpreting and giving form to the concept of light, completing the theme “The Light of . . .” in their paintings or photographs. It is their hope that these artistic interpretations will entertain you, spark your interest, and strike a flame in your thoughts.

For over 80 years this energetic, volunteer-run organization of local amateur and professional artists has supported and encouraged the development of local artists. Monthly meetings and three or four art shows held each year provide members the opportunity to socialize and share their artistic creations with each other and with the Kitchener Waterloo community.
